Some days call for slowing down, being still, and reconnecting—with nature, loved ones, God, and ourselves. Recently, I had one of those days—an event stirred up old emotions, leaving me feeling fragile. I knew the after-school craziness would feel overwhelming in my current state. So instead of pushing through or letting those emotions spill over onto my family, I chose to pause and care for myself in a way that met both my needs and the needs of my kids.
We went outside. We found a creek, kicked off our shoes, and felt the hard, pointy rocks beneath our feet. The cool water refreshed us as we tossed rocks, watching the splashes and ripples in the water. We connected in a simple, quiet way, free from distractions. It was exactly what my soul needed, and it shifted the energy of that afternoon for all of us.
It doesn’t always go perfectly, but I’m learning to recognize what my body and spirit need and to honor those needs when I can. By caring for myself, I find I can show up more fully for the people I love and the things that matter most.
Moments like this remind me of the beauty in small, intentional actions. They are part of the work I love—helping others discover how simple practices can create space to reconnect, reset, and find peace in the chaos. When we care for ourselves, we can show up for life with more grace, strength, and intention. ❤️
